Finnish water industry is at turning point, since part of today’s workers will retire during the next few years. In addition, the higher education of the water field has been reduced. Water industry is unique because of its locality, but the industry lacks an arena for exchanging practical experiences.
Econet participates with Ammattienedistämislaitossäätiö AEL sr to educate new workers in water industries.
In small municipalities a water plant can be maintained by only couple of workers. Every plant is unique even though their operating principles are similar.
- It would be important that the workers of the field shared their experiences, thus, builded up their own know-how. We at AEL want to offer a place for education and conversations about the practical issues, tells the trainer of AEL Laura Hakonen.
Water industry is challenging, because it changes constantly because of new technology and tightening legislation. Moreover, the quality of water that flows to the plant varies every day, too.
- People are not trained only at school, but practical experience is needed, too. Preferably from many aspects, tells the sales director of Econet Hannu Turunen.
The training of AEL is practical, which is not available, for example, at higher educational institutes. Different equipment which are used for water treatment are gone through at the trainings, for instance. Time is reserved also for exchanging practical experiences, and networking. The next trainings are held in autumn.
